Custom weaving
Custom weavings are a great way to have a piece unique to you. Before beginning it is important to know what you do and do not like, so I encourage everyone to go through my past pieces. These images are only a few examples of larger pieces I have made in the past. Quotes for pieces are based on budget and preferred size and will include an estimated time needed to complete based on my current workload.
Shipping is not included in quotes for custom weavings. I ship through UPS, USPS, or FedEx depending on which you prefer. I do my best to give a rough shipping estimate based on the address you give me, however, I cannot exactly predict the weight of a finished piece so please take the estimate with a grain of salt.
I work with a lot of 100% wool, hand-dyed, hand-spun, and vintage yarns in order to minimize plastic fiber waste. Some fibers are one of a kind and cannot be sourced again which adds to the custom nature of my weavings, and others will need to be ordered online from makers who share the same fiber philosophy as I do, which could add time to the original estimate.
Color is a great way to express an idea and to set a mood. Pinterest boards or images with colors you like are a great way to start the process. Once we have the colors picked and styles discussed, I will send you 3-4 weaving sketches of ideas. A lot of my weaving process is "at the moment", or "freeform", so the sketches offer a rough idea of color placement and shape. Alongside the sketches, I can send photographs of materials I think would work best if you would like to see them.
If you would rather not go the sketch route and would like to be more surprised/just let me go for it, it would still be extremely helpful to go through my past pieces so we could talk about what you do and don't like so I can make something you will LOVE!
All pieces are made in a pet-friendly environment. If you are allergic to cats or dogs please be aware as I do my best to keep my materials separate from my pets, however, I cannot guarantee that they in no way came near or in contact with any of the materials. (My cat likes to sit beside me sometimes while I weave.)
